  1. That sounds about right. Recession brides still have to be careful with their dough. I see brides are scaling back on personal beauty but remain committed to guest comfort.

  3. For the record, we are not spending anywhere near this amount. Honestly, we're probably spending half of that. I'm doing the DIY thing.

  4. Who spends this much?? I've been a maid of honor for 3 different weddings and none of them spent over $13-17K. I guess my friends are cheap :)

  5. I'm a Wedding Photographer and that number is low. Our average bride spends around $65k for her wedding.

  6. I'm a newlywed and I spend around $41K for our celebration. But I do think that a 23K wedding could be beautiful if planned correctly!

  7. This seems low, but, of course, depends on the number of guests you're having! We're planning for 250 - scary!!

  8. I'm spending about that much and I wouldn't even say that I'm splurging. Food cost is a big number that i'm tackling with right now :/

  9. Our budget is set at 24K so I'd say this is pretty accurate. And I totally agree with the anonymous comment above about food/catering being a huge expense.

I don't even want to tell you what we are spending on our daughter's wedding. 23 thousand seems pretty reasonable to me. Wish she felt the same way. Might have to show her this. Thanks for posting this.

  12. I did just about everything myself - flowers (bouquets, boutonnieres, hall decorations, invitations, place cards, place card holders, etc.), got a tremendous deal on my gown through ebay, made the jewelry for my bridesmaids...and got a tremendous deal on a beautiful location for the reception. I spent around $6000 for 90 people. We had a second reception in my home state for folks who couldn't make it to the wedding (another 85), and that ran probably around $2,500 - $3,000. So, for nearly 2 weddings, we spent under ten grand.

  13. Sounds pretty accurate but when I get married my photographer will probably cost 7gs alone :P

  14. I think it would help if a guest count were associated to give a better idea of overall per person.
