Welcome to another installment of our Local Austin Interview series! This week, we were lucky enough to get a chance to chat with Marianne, the talented photographer behind Marianne Worlow Photography. Let’s have a look at what she has to say!For our readers new to your photography, please tell us a little bit about yourself and why you call Austin home?
Well I just recently got to call Austin home again. I lived here on & off from 2006-2008 and then moved back to my home state of Michigan for 2 years. My husband & I couldn't seem to get Austin out of our hearts & moved back in October 2010 for good. Austin is something special & I really believe it is the people here that make it so. A few things I love about it: the people. the fact that it introduced me to avocados!! the unreal blue colored sky. the light is amazing here. the love for art/music that Austin has. I could just go on & on..
Why did you become a photographer? What sparked your interest in photography?
Hmm well once I became a photographer I can tell you.. it all started to make sense. I have always been an artsy person & very visual but I never really put this all together until I found my passion for photography. I always.. I mean always had my point & shoot camera with me but not until I stumbled upon a couple photography blogs did my interest get sparked: Gray Photography [I actually went to high school with Jody for a couple years] that then lead me to Jasmine Star. I was so overwhelmed on how it sucked me in.. I was hooked. I played around with the idea but I didn't even own a DSLR camera then. Long story short I found myself in one of those baby stores helping my sister to get my nieces photos taken & I stood behind the women working the fixed camera & couldn't believe my sister was going to pay $100 for these couple photos that really didn't show my niece's personality. We got in the car & I told her from now on "I'm taking her photos!" I did my first photo shoot with my sisters Canon Rebel set on Auto modes in her backyard of her & my niece. My heart was so content I almost couldn't handle it. People loved them to my surprise & I started getting emails for more shoots. So from then on I started teaching myself to shoot manually & here I stand today.

Your company specializes in wedding photography. What is it like to capture such special moments for others?
Before I shot my first wedding I kinda knew I would love it. I am a true lover of love.. so capturing the emotion of such a special day is so amazing. Capturing those moments that slip between the cracks on a day that goes by so fast are my favorite photos to show my couples. Being able to use my camera & freeze moments forever for the bride & groom is why I love photography. It really is an honor when a bride & groom choose you to capture their wedding day.

What do you love the most about your job?
Eeks!! :D The way it makes me feel. The way my clients are able to see their own beauty through a photo. The way it doesn't feel like a "job" at all. If I could I would shoot for free. That's how much I love it. It's my Passion.
What advice would you give to our readers who are looking to rock out their engagement session photos?
I would tell them to just have fun & be you. I would tell them to pick a location that means something to them & has versatility. To not be afraid of a fun wardrobe with killer shoes. ;) Pretty much to just have fun & be you.. two lovebirds.

Austin has a ton of beautiful places to shoot a breath-taking photo shoot. Do you have any fav locations?
I love shooting in downtown areas for its versatility & light. Austin is no different but it has a lake.. Bonus! :)

Trash the dress photo sessions. {Yay or Nay?}
My first instinct is Nay but if it was done in a way that goes with my style I would be all over it. A more fashionable vibe with the bride still looking very sexy/beautiful would be amazing. Maybe a day on the farm spent in her wedding dress amongst the animals & dust. Ending the shoot with her on the porch swing with dirty feet & a cold glass of fresh lemonade. ;)

How do you make the bride and groom, bridal party, etc feel relaxed in front of your camera?
Having fun is my #1. I love getting to know them during their engagement session & that relationship rolls into the big day. They are able to understand how I work & this provides a more relaxed feel. I'm an easy going girl that gets excited pretty easily & maybe they are laughing at me sometimes but if it gets me the shot.. I'm all for it! ;)

What can couples expect from you when they book you for their wedding day?
That I will do my everything to make sure they are happy & having fun. That I promise to bring the passion I have for life & love to their wedding day & capture theirs.
Thank you Marianne!

Great idea. I'm not putting my name so I stay anonymous, but I've been in the Austin wedding industry for over 12 years and it's nice to see someone actually taking the time to introduce local vendors to engaged couples looking for wedding services. It "personalizes" the Austin area wedding pros and makes it more comfortable for brides to reach out to vendors. For instance, one of your blog readers, probably a planning bride, will see this post, really like what she has to say, and then check out her website and possible book her services. All because she now feels she knows a little bit about her instead of her being a complete stranger. I applause you Austin Wedding Blog for taking the local Austin wedding industry to a new standard.
