We hope to provide Austin brides little "sneak-peaks" on what their counterparts are up to:) I love seeing and hearing about all of the different wedding ideas in Austin, and now you can too! Enjoy… - Rachel
Let’s face it, Austin brides have a deep love of all things Austin. Well of course! Austin rocks just about everything! And it’s no surprise that couples want a little bit (or a lot!) of our fine city to be reflected in their weddings. As an Austin wedding planner we get to see all kinds of creative ways that these fabulous brides incorporate Austin into their big day.
We’ve put together a short list of some of the ways that brides are making Austin a part of their biggest day:

1.) Great Rehearsal Dinner Locations! Austin brides have it easy when it comes to choosing a great place to host their rehearsal dinner. There are so many amazing restaurants and event spaces in our city that the hardest part is choosing just one! Our brides are spoiled with not only great food, but beautiful and fun spaces as well. Try Olive & June, Moonshine, The Carillon, or Fonda San Miguel, to name a few.

Quick tip – choose early! Your favorite place is likely another bride’s favorite as well and rehearsal dinner locations book fast and early. This is usually one of the first tasks, besides choosing a wedding venue, that we work on for our brides.

2.) Pre Wedding Social Hour! Our couples are choosing to offer light refreshments, like flavored waters and lemonades and fruit and cheeses, to their guests upon arrival at their wedding venue.
This is one of my favorite new trends in Austin weddings because it allows your guests to mingle and connect with one another in a relaxed environment before the big event. Because guests will often arrive at a wedding ceremony “fashionably late” it avoids the possibility of having guests rudely interrupt the services once they’ve started. Let’s face it – even a little noise while you’re exchanging your vows is too much noise!

3.) Peacock Purple! We have so many brides using purples this year – and just as many incorporating all of the gorgeous peacock colors into the mix. Some are going all out with the theme and having the majestic creature added into the mix of the décor, while others are having “peacock inspired” weddings with a mix of the colors but no mention or usage of the bird itself. Whatever you choose, it is a theme that lends itself well to lots of styles – country, modern, vintage elegance, you name it. It seems to work with all of it!

4.) Using Austin Landmarks as Ceremony & Reception Sites! Speaking of the peacock, Austin locations like Mayfield Park work well with this theme. Our couples more and more are feeling free to choose distinctive Austin locations to host their big day because they feel so connected to them. Some of our couples chose these locations because it’s where they met or got engaged. Lustre Pearl, Zilker Park, Driskill Hotel, and Bob Bullock Museum are all great options with deep Austin connections.
A lot of Austin brides feel just as comfortable choosing locations that aren’t necessarily typical wedding locations, like many of Austin’s beautiful parks or some of the rooftops of our amazing buildings. The possibilities are endless!

5.) Incorporating Austin Landmarks Into The Décor! Last, but certainly not least is incorporating all things Austin into your wedding. One of our most recent brides had a local artist design a beautiful Letterpress postcard as their save the date. It had a lovely scene of the bat bridge at night pressed into the paper. It was amazing! Another bride named each of her dining tables after an Austin landmark, instead of traditional table numbers. There are a ton of playful ways you can use our eclectic city as inspiration for your Austin wedding!

Ana - I'm glad you like the table numbers. My sweet bride and her friend actually made all of the paper goods for the wedding. They did a beautiful job!

  10. You could definitely notice these trends being followed nearly anywhere, especially the pre-wedding socialization one. People round here just call that getting nice and drunk.

    Nice localization though.
